Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy (HBO) has been part of Revive since we began in 1984.
HBO is used to treat conditions such as decompression sickness, burns, and sports injuries. It uses 100% oxygen delivered into a pressurised chamber, which you breathe through a lightweight mask.
Although no claims are made about the effectiveness of Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy for MS, many of our clients report benefits.
What To Expect?
Before your first session, we will contact your GP to confirm your suitability for oxygen therapy. If you have a severe respiratory condition such as asthma, you cannot receive oxygen therapy.
Once we receive your GP’s confirmation, we will then carry out an assessment to ensure that oxygen therapy is suitable for you.
The initial treatment course is 20 sessions, each lasting for one hour. The 20 sessions are split into blocks of five. After each block, you will be assessed again to see if there has been any change in your MS symptoms. Depending on your results, your next session may be at a higher pressure.
Some people say that their ears “pop” as the chamber is pressurised. You will be able to communicate with our trained chamber operators throughout your session.
Possible benefits of oxygen therapy:
- Breathing 100% oxygen can enhance the body’s ability to repair damaged tissue before it becomes scarred.
- Some users claim relief from MS symptoms such as fatigue, poor balance and mobility, sensory perception difficulties, and incontinence.
