After noticing some symptoms like pins and needles in her face and tongue numbness, Jacqueline sought medical advice and was diagnosed with MS last September.

Jacqueline’s journey with MS has been deeply personal. Her Uncle lives with MS, her Mum’s Uncle lived with the condition and her Mum has also recently been diagnosed too.

I genuinely think there’s a family link. I’m a Mum of two and it’s hard to explain my diagnosis to them. It’s something they have to live with too.”

“It’s hard to get my head around it mentally. I’ve always been very active and used to walk 10 kilometres a day. Now I struggle to walk 50 metres. My head hasn’t

After referral to Revive MS Support from her MS Nurse, Jacqueline has been attending Revive since last December and credits Revive for providing vital help and providing quick access to specialist MS services that she didn’t know were available.

“When I was referred, I got a call back in just two days – I couldn’t believe it. It was so daunting coming in for the first time, but as soon as I walked through the doors, I felt relaxed. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. They asked about my kids, my daily life, how they could help and referred me for all the different services. I’ve been telling everyone about it since. It’s an amazing place.”

Despite the challenges of MS, Jacqueline took on the 2024 Glasgow Kiltwalk to raise funds for Revive, alongside her two children Ava (13) and Rian (10) her sisters, Dianne, Nicola and Stephanie, and also her friend with her family.

“The way this charity has changed my life after only a few visits is what inspired me to take on the Kiltwalk.”

When asked what she wants others to know about living with MS, Jacqueline highlighted the importance of seeking support.

“Everybody with MS is different, with different needs and expectations. I would urge people – don’t be too proud to ask for help. Family life is affected too, and the little things can catch up with you. It’s important to acknowledge that. That’s why places like Revive are so important”
