John’s connection to Revive MS Support began when his wife Audrey’s MS Nurse, referred Audrey to the charity. Since then, Revive has become a crucial source of support for Audrey and their family.

“Before Audrey’s diagnosis, I wasn’t even sure what MS was or the impact it could have. I also didn’t know how important a place like Revive could be. Now, I see the difference it makes every day.”

Living with MS has brought its share of challenges, especially in planning day-to-day life.

“The condition is so fluid, and every day is different. You don’t know which version of your partner will be available. But Audrey is always so appreciative of what we do for her, and you just have to stay positive and plan as best as you can.”

“Audrey has made lots of new friends at Revive and they’ people who’ve gone through the same issues as she has. The advice and guidance she’s received from both the staff and other attendees have been invaluable.”

“Even during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Revive maintained its support through online quizzes and activities to keep the community connected.”

John’s decision to take on the Glasgow Kiltwalk this year stems from his experience participating in last year’s event, where his work team supported the local hospice. During the walk, John met people fundraising for Revive, and it sparked a new commitment.

“I decided that if I was going to do the Kiltwalk again, it would be for Revive. I met my sister-in-law at the start line by chance – we didn’t even know the other was taking part! So we decided we’d do it together next time.”

“Last year, my team took 10 hours because one of us hadn’t trained at all. I’m not putting myself in that position again!”

John’s message for anyone considering the Kiltwalk is simple but powerful:

“Just do it! There are different distances for everyone, so do what you can, do your own thing, do your very best. Just do!”

With his determination and commitment, John is not only supporting Audrey but also helping to ensure that Revive MS Support can continue to make a difference for others impacted by MS.
