We are pleased to offer a 10-week online Mindfulness-Based Living Course (MBLC), starting on Thursday 6th August. Sessions will run on Thursdays from 10:00am to 12:15pmÂ
The course is designed to support people living with MS by helping participants develop practical mindfulness skills to manage its impact in a more skilful and compassionate way. Through the course, participants can benefit from increased self-compassion and acceptance, reduced stress and pain reactivity, improved body awareness, and stronger control.
The course will be run by Ellen Doherty.

Aged 30 years, I was working towards becoming a Clinical Psychologist. Quietly suffering from fatigue and wishing to start a family, I decided to opt for a Masters qualification instead of a Doctorate with the intention of bringing some balance back to my life.
I trained within the NHS as a Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology, however my tiredness continued and I now had odd sensations throughout my body. Finally in 2010, following the birth of my second child, I received a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis.
No stranger to disability; i developed a visual impairment in my early twenties, I wanted to make the best of things and be a present parent. Enter mindfulness! Having stumbled across the writings of Dr Mark Williams online, I was interested to hear about the possible link between mindfulness meditation and neuroplasticity. I was intrigued by the possibility of learning to live with my new reality as best as i could. I began mindfulness and never looked back.
Having practiced mindfulness for a decade, I decided to undergo training in teaching the practice, which was provided by The University of Aberdeen in partnership with the Mindfulness Association. Maintaining my own formal daily practice, I now offer secular mindfulness and compassion training through the Centre for Life Long Learning at The University of Strathclyde and to various organisations via my work with the charity: The Everyone Project.
