A group of Glasgow musicians are bringing the local rock scene together this November to raise vital funds for Revive MS Support through an independently organised charity music festival.
The Revive Rock Festival, organised by Glasgow rock band KELOWNA, will take place on Saturday 21st November at Audio, Glasgow, with all profits from ticket sales and fundraising on the night being donated to Revive.
The idea for the festival came after one of the band’s members saw first-hand the difference Revive has made to a close family member living with MS.
The band explained:
One of the guys in KELOWNA has a family member who personally benefits from Revive’s amazing service. We learned that Revive relies on donations to continue supporting people living with MS, and we wanted to find a way to give something back.
The band has brought together six artists, all giving their time free of charge, to create a full afternoon and evening of live music, with raffles and fundraising taking place throughout the event. The venue was also chosen for its step-free access, making it easier for people with mobility needs to attend.
Listening to music allows so many of us to escape for a while,” they said. “Live music brings people together, but the most important part of this event is using that opportunity to raise awareness of MS and support the incredible work Revive does for people living with the condition and their families.
Over the past year, learning more about MS through their friend’s family has left a lasting impression and the band hopes the festival will help people better understand that no two experiences of MS are the same.
We’ve seen how much MS can affect someone’s quality of life, and the impact it has on the people around them too. We’ve also realised just how many people are affected by MS, either directly or indirectly. It broke our hearts, and we wanted to do something that could make even a small difference.
MS isn’t one-size-fits-all. Everyone’s experience is different, which means the support they need is different too. Some people benefit from meeting others at the Revive café, while others rely on services like physiotherapy, counselling or continence support. That’s why organisations like Revive are so important.
As an independent charity, Revive depends on fundraising from individuals, businesses and community events to continue providing specialist physical, emotional, financial and social support to people living with MS across Scotland.
We’ve learned how much it costs to provide these services and how far every donation goes,” they said. “Community fundraising events don’t just raise money – they also help raise awareness of MS and encourage more people to get involved.
KELOWNA are encouraging people to support the festival by buying tickets early, helping ensure the event can go ahead and raise as much as possible for Revive.
